Cool iTunes trick

I like to come across music from my collection of CDs that I haven’t listened to in a while. Here’s what I do: - I create a “Smart Playlist” called, for example, Folk – Unplayed - The “match query” includes Genere is Folk and Play Count is 0 As I play this list, it gets continually shorter as each song is played and removed from the list. Riff on this technique – other genres? Played once only? etc. Neat. Technorati Tags: cool, itunes

Machine translation: Funny!

The highly anticipated Mac OS X “Tiger” arrived in my hot little hands, and I’ve spent most of the day installing it (2 hours) and getting everything to work again (6 hours and counting.) One of the highly touted new features is “Dashboard” which is a “not quite as good as” knock-off of [Konfa...

LinkedIn: Highly connected?

Picture 1-1 Interesting: I can reach 1.1 Million people through my 125 connections on LinkedIn, and there are a total of 2.1 million people registered. So I can reach one out of two. My statistics are not good enough to analyze the significance of that, but it is a bit surprising. Technorati Tags: interesting, linkedin

Who thought of it first? Who cares?

Microsoft and Apple are arguing about who came up first with the idea of having a pervasive search capability built into the OS Apple is shipping it imminently in Tiger, and Microsoft, eventually, in Longhorn. Well let’s see...

Losing a finger over biometrics

“They stripped Mr Kumaran naked and left him by the side of the road – but not before cutting off the end of his index finger with a machete. (from the BBC)“ There, I got your attention, didn’t I? That’s from the always fascinating mo...

Is Google setting the hook?

Recently, GMail raised the free storage available to all subscribers to 2 Gig! Amazing isn’t it? I don’t know how they do it – they must have a monstrous number of subscribers all over the world. And they are getting hooked, really hooked. Take me for example – I was getting worried when I ha...

Switcher’s log, Part 8: In conclusion…

I love the fact that I switched to Mac. A lot of the fun is that it’s new and different. Also I like the idea that there’s UNIX beneath the skin because I wanted to get more familiar with it. Also all the applications are ‘prettier‘ to look at and that’s fun. Of course the m...
