Beg the question? Beg your pardon?
This is amusing. Ever since I learned from glenn, many years ago, that everyone uses “beg the question” incorrectly, I can’t help noticing it whenever it’s done. Now I see we’re not the only one!

No I am not talking about Tiger Woods(who also is not a woman) but about the “Engineers Who Created Tiger”, according to a recent bit of Apple Marketing. (Tiger is the name of the new release of the Mac OS X operating system.) A odd image to portray, IMHO.
Recently, GMail raised the free storage available to all subscribers to 2 Gig! Amazing isn’t it? I don’t know how they do it – they must have a monstrous number of subscribers all over the world. And they are getting hooked, really hooked. Take me for example – I was getting worried when I ha...

Read more →Everyone says that the reason they like the Mac and OS X is that it’s so easy to use! I am not so sure that it’s any easier to use than Windows XP. Yes OS X has some snazzy user interface frills and it’s quite easy to use. But notwithstanding that some of these brain-dead UI decisions ** bely ...

Google is now officially unstoppable! Check out how they’ve now integrated satellite images into Google Maps. Now we know what they wanted with the Keyhole acquisition. What a wonderful integration. Click on the image to see it full size! The address, by the way, is of the Harvard University Berkman Center.
It’s here! We are officially declaring BlogBridge as a 1.0 product! The site is updated, the features are solid and we are off to the races. Here are some personal tidbits about where we are now and what happens next: - Actually 1.0 has been done for about a week now, and really over the last 4...

When things go wrong is when you start seeing some of the disadvantages of being on the 5% pc platform. Help is hard to find, alternatives are non-existent. Briefly here is the story: I tried a ‘better’ Palm synchronizer called“Missing Sync” from ...

Quite an amazing variety of aggregators are mentioned. It might be the most crowded space I’ve seen in a long time. Gee, and my own project, BlogBridge is in the space. Of course, we are willing to take on all comers because we feel that we’ve got a better mousetrap, and that we’ve pushed the envelope in some really important areas. But you know, I bet all of them feel the same way. Robert, if you read this: check out BlogBridge won’t ya?
There’s another flame-up on the WebStart commentary on the web, this time under the title “Webstart, now I see why people don’t use it.” Even though I’ve spoken out about this once or twice, I couldn’t resist weighing in. **[Here...

Read more →Blogads has conducted a survey of people who read blogs. The results are quite interesting. One thing that stood out to me was that 72% don’t use RSS (i.e. an aggregator) to read blogs. This is consistent with another finding, which is that people who read blogs typically read about 10 of them every day. When reading “only” 10, using a web browser is more than fine. Check it out, there are lots of other interesting tidbits!
There’s been a lot of talk about tags, folksonomies, taxonomies, etc. Trying to make sense out of this can be confusing. At the recent ETech conference there was more than one presentation on the topic, each of which helped me understand the subtleties a little better, and organize them in my mind. ...

If you are a blog aficionado then you’ve followed this debate, ad something. I don’t have any pearls of wisdom to add, but did come across this quite good article discussing the issues (via MacNetJournal) > “Or in Walsh’s words, in trying to tell if a blog is serious journalism or the rant of a pajama-clad windbag, “It’s kind of like art. You know it when you see it.” Hmm. I thought that was pornography 🙂
